As I drove out of the parking lot yesterday, I put my 26,000th mile on my car. Not quite as exciting as 25,000, but a milestone nonetheless. In particular, it reminds me that I am now well past my 60,000 mile checkup. Oops.
Sort of car related, I set a new record driving to work this morning. The average is about 10 minutes, but today it took only 7.5! If the idiots would just stay off the road every morning...
Not related at all, Alex came into town last night to get his stuff on his way through to Champaign. I haven't been to the grocery store in awhile, but we managed to scrounge up a dinner of corn on the cob, small shell pasta, and chicken patties for him.
Oh, and real food like Wheat Thins, Keebler chocolate chip and M&M cookies, French crullers, and Pringles.

Nate--
Last night, the boys were on their own. It was a bag of Bugles, mini-blueberry muffins, and Mountain Dew.
Just a warm-up for football season!

ooh, that's classic. I was a huge Mountain Dew addict until I finally gave it up in high school after a couple rough relapses. It seriously took me years before I could look at a can of pop (err, sorry, soda...coke...) without this incredibly strong desire to grab the can and chug it. Addictive personalities run in my family, which probably explains my willingness to tolerate drug use among others but hesitancy at using any drugs personally. (Also, my love of card games that happen to involve money and ability to play video games for hours on end without even stopping to do things like, say, eating or bathing)
By bag of Bugles, I hope you literally meant they ate the bag, because those things are also quite addictive.
I'm not sure the mini-blueberry muffins are really football food, though. Good thing you're still getting warmed up.
Nate--The blueberry muffins were somewhat chastening--but when that's what you have, that's what you eat.
I usually blow through at least a pot of coffee by 9:00 a.m. and 2 or 3 Dews by the time the buses roll. I switch to barley extract later in the evening.
I'm usually insensate by 9:00 p.m. A lot of people I know, say I'm insensate for most of the day.
But I'm no addict!

There is no shame in loving MD. If you recall, I *did* establish the MD Hall of Fame back in high school. A log was kept detailing only the most desperate cases of caffeine-deprived individuals and what they did to get a can. Made for good lunchtime entertainment back in the day before I became a total workaholic and started working through lunch.
*I still keep an emergency can in my desk at the office. Or two.
